sins do not do damage in half a second. even the fastest sin combo spans across 3-4 seconds.

if you are seeing an "instantaneous" damage burst, i would first check to see if you are lagging like hell. bad ping will cause jerky movement and things happening in a blink of an eye. second, i would check to see if your computer sucks or not. a bad computer with pisspoor framerates won't display enough frames for you to react properly.

guardian defeats most sins. if you run into one with shroud of silence or temple strike or beguiling haze. kite, just run till the daze or shroud wears off, then recast guardian.

zoom out from your character, if you see a melee running at you, pre cast guardian. if they do manage to hit you, RoF is your friend as is dismiss. something i do when i'm monking, reverse hex, it may not be the best hex removal but its 1/4 cast time has saved me from many a sin, especialy one that uses SP>BMT, remove the hex befor BMT hits and that sin's chain fails to work well.

Can I ask? Where's the rest of your party? Are they offering no help to you? Also I have yet to see a sin kill without inflicting any conditions. Try mending touch its a massive heal plus that deep wound they usually inflict is gone. Also if that sin is solo hes just some stupid kid that has no intrest in capping shrines but just killing, if you do die just remember the name and watch for him so you can prepare for it. I get these jerks on my team sometimes and they just run off to solo kill.

fixed for you, SB/PS won' t trigger on most of their attacks, except Blades of Steel. Especially as the victim runs at approx 600 HP, as it should.

The only non-monk skill you need in AB is [skill]Dash[/skill]. It doesn't require any attribute point investment, gets you from shrine to shrine faster, and is great for kiting.

how to piss off an assassin:
cast [skill]Shield of Deflection[/skill][skill]Reversal of Fortune[/skill][skill]Guardian[/skill] at once.

That will make them get extremely mad and run away.

[skill]Storm Djinn's Haste[/skill] is useable with GoLE and a running skill with no downtime

Spirit Bond will usually last the duration of a assasin's spike, and ofcourse you can just re-apply it. I honestly never have much trouble with assasin's unless ofcourse my build isn't focused protection.

TBH, it sounds like you met your first 3-man spike OP. Deepwound, enchant strips and good old fashioned direct damage would be my bet (deep highly recommended in a 3-man spike). The way damage has increased since nightfall and remained largely unchecked through GW:EN, its not hard to get a regular 600 HP damage combo out of three people in under a second if the team is coordinated with their build and using vent. If they've got KD in the mix, its easy.

Prot Spirit? Wasted skill in AB. Its ubergod in other areas where DP is a factor because the lower your HP the more effective it becomes. Take Spirit Bond; its more than enough for what you'll face in there most of the time. SoA is second weapon of choice. Watch that team and when you see them converge on something, SB it and follow with SoA to mop up. Then you just fire off your elite and hope you mop up their damage. I'm not a huge fan of dark escape in Ab because it tends to make me slow down my team. I run storm djinns, signet of speed, return, or natural stride most matches.

Draw+purifying veil is a powerful but little used combo, especially against these insta-daze sins. Thats my latest trick for dealing with sins. when they drop dazed on me, expecting a few seconds of easily interruptible helplessness, I just drop veil and make em squeal. Same for deep wound if they're built to spike instead of shutdown. Its a rare thing for an AB team with dazed in the mix to bother taking another interrupt (unless its a BHA ranger; thats all they got) so yes, pveil can be re-applied under pressure too. If you're lucky enough to have a mesmer and he likes to make people cry, take CoP--making yourself a "no fly zone" monk for disrupts--and he can bring hex eater vortex to completely screw up everyone's day on the other side.

Anyway: Stick those on a ZB bar and happy monkey.

Fighting sins in the rare occasions I do PvP - which is most of that small time AB - I cast PS and SoA on myself and wait for them to notice it isn't worth trying.
However, using SoD as Rexion is one of my favourites too. Make them miss first attack and they can't do noticable damage.

usually i have no problems monking in AB - it's easy faction farming most of the way...

i did run across a 3 man sin gank team(with a monk). Beguiling haze, shroud of silence and dark prison. Kept getting killed (Not much you can do though-especially when you're team is running off into another mob).

Its not a problem to stay a live a against a sin as a monk, it more problematic to keep your team mates alive that are running away from you while u are being damaged and suffering form crippled, knocked down, deep wounded, bleeding, poisoned, daze, hexed,… it not easy to deal with all that and keep an eye on the health bar of your team mates, not to mention all the other allies around you that are not in the party member screen, witch have to be manually alt-clicked… that causes the most difficulty for me

It would be cool if u could also open the party member screens of the other teams, so it becomes easier to see who needs healing and easier to click on someone. That way u cant abuse the heal party / lod / aegis spam but still be able to perform better as a monk.
